Website Analytics

People love to track things. From the days of collecting baseball cards you remember looking at the top players, their stats, their strike outs and home runs. Later there were books like Becketts that told you how much your card was worth.

The same goes for websites. People love to track visits, they like to know how many people have visited their site. Sites like Statscounter.com give you realtime stats but not as much break down and sometimes its not as accurate. Google Analytics offers a lot of functionality for free but you get the stats the next day.

The new trend in Analytics seems to be persona and profiles. Sitecore DMS offers a lot of this functionality. But all these items have gaps, no one product does everything and sometimes customization is necessary for specific client needs. This blog is a place where we can share our experience with each other on how to collect better analytics. To know what is working and what is not.

Analytics is very much an art more than a science at this point and it is important to learn from others mistakes so we can all get better. If you have an analytics story to share or advice please email me at chris.williams@readwatchcreate.com and we can post it here so others could benefit from the experience.
